Serbian is a South Slavic language spoken by about 9-10 million people in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and Macedonia.

It is the official language in Serbia where it is spoken by approximately 6.5 million people.

There were 53,802 people who reported speaking Serbian at home in the 2016 Census compared to the 2021 Census data with 57,297 Serbian speakers.
