NSW Electoral Commission

For the 2023 NSW State election, NSW Electoral Commission is committed to promoting voting participation among NSW's multicultural communities.

As part of their campaign, we worked with NSW Electoral Commission to professionally translate 5 videos into 7 languages. We also supported their wider stakeholder distribution strategy by sharing translated resources with target organisations and audiences.

The client

The NSW Electoral Commission is an independent statutory body legislated to conduct, regulate and report on elections on behalf of the people of New South Wales.

Their work includes running independent, fair and accessible elections, providing transparent processes and guidance to assist political participants, and engaging with the public to make it easier for people to understand and participate in the democratic process.

Our Work

The challenge

To effectively reach and engage multicultural communities in NSW, this campaign included a number of video assets which we translated into 7 languages. The video translations for this project involved professionally translated subtitles and on-screen text, which required a lengthier timeline.

However, the project also needed to be completed over the holiday season, which meant that many of our translators had limited availability. Despite this, we were committed to ensuring that NSW Electoral Commission's project was delivered in a timely manner, while meeting the rigorous quality standards of our ISO 17100 certified translation process.

The solution

We worked with NSW Electoral Commission well ahead of time to ensure a smooth translation process. This included planning for translator availabilities (as well as the availabilities of our in-house team and NSW Electoral Commission's team), engaging them weeks in advance of receiving the video assets, so that we could proceed with no delay.

Additionally, we organised to remain in close contact with the client throughout the break, in case any issue was identified and raised.

The results

We were proud to deliver the project well within our projected timelines, while ensuring that our translations were error-free and of the highest quality. Additionally, we assisted the NSW Electoral Commission with the distribution of translated assets to multicultural organisations.

NSW Electoral Commission has since returned with new translation projects, which we are proud to continue providing our expertise on.
