Marriage Certificate Translation
NAATI Marriage Certificate Translator
Do you have a marriage certificate in a language other than English (LOTE) that you need translated into English into Australia? Did you know that this can actually be quite a complicated process depending on your individual circumstances and where you need to submit the translated marriage certificate to?
In many cases, an Affidavit may need to accompany the translation. According to the Family Law Court’s page:
Rule 2.02(4) of the Family Law Rules 2004 requires:
4) a document mentioned in Table 2.2 is not in English, the person filing the document must file:
(a) a translation of the document in English; and
(b) an affidavit by the person who made the translation verifying the translation and setting out the person’s qualifications to make the translation.
So as you can see, you cannot simply translate the document yourself or have a friend do it for you. The NAATI accredited translation needs to accompany an affidavit in Australia before it can be submitted to the Family Court. We suggest that all clients seek their own legal advice as individual circumstances do vary. The information on this page does not constitute legal advice.
We can translate your marriage certificate into English for you and help to arrange the affidavit for you. Please note that we provide translation services Australia-wide and can arrange the entire process for you via email and post, without you needing to visit our office.
