Vicinity Centres engaged Ethnolink for a high-priority translation in preparation for the 2022 Lunar New Year. In this project, we worked together to create a fortune reading display for the Year of the Tiger in Simplified Chinese. The display was set up in the Emporium Melbourne during the Lunar New Year, for thousands of shoppers to take a peek at their 2022 fortunes.
Vicinity Centres is one of Australia's leading retail property groups. With a community-centric approach, Vicinity Centres has brought us some of Melbourne's most popular shopping centres — such as Chadstone Shopping Centre, Emporium Melbourne, DFO South Wharf, and many more.
This project was a high-priority request. Due to the marketing nature of the materials being translated, we have also found that a more flexible translation works best to capture the meaning of the text. Previous feedback from the client indicated that they were worried about the translations being too literal, so this was front of mind for our team.
We discussed the project brief with our translator to better highlight the client's requirements and expectations. In addition, we worked closely with a Simplified Chinese translator handpicked for their experience with marketing collateral. Through regular check-ins, we ensured that the project went ahead smoothly and efficiently so that it could be delivered to our client on time. The speediness of the delivery was especially important in this project to meet our client's short deadline.
We delivered the translations to our client ahead of the deadline. In the following weeks, a very happy and satisfied client contacted us with the images of our translations in action. It was displayed in the Emporium Melbourne during the 2022 Lunar New Year, from February 1 to 15. Thousands of visitors dropped by to read their 2022 fortunes!
