Born and raised in Australia, Thom didn’t always know that he wanted to work in the language industry. He only discovered his passion in university, in a life-changing decision to take up a linguistics elective, a year and a half into his undergraduate.

Since that day, he spends his days exploring his love for languages and translation. He took up a linguistics major and Japanese studies, and went on to pursue a Master of Translation.

As an Ethnolink Project Manager, Thom counts himself lucky that he can do what he loves as a profession. Every day, he gets to work with dozens of languages, and learn new and fascinating things. He knows that translation, in some form or another, is what he will be doing for the rest of his life.
