Overview
The Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is one of Victoria’s largest infrastructure projects. Ethnolink is proud to have been engaged by SRL to create premium-quality translations of their Environmental Effects Statement Summary Report.
This report provides accessible, non-technical information about this exciting development to Victoria’s multicultural communities in Greek and Chinese (Traditional & Simplified).
Challenge
Ethnolink was engaged to translate SRL’s report into Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional) and Greek. The client requested a high-priority translation, which included independent checking by a second NAATI-certified translator and typesetting services.
The main challenge that our team faced was in delivering a quality product that met our rigorous standards within the client’s timeline.
Solution
Our Ethnolink values include a can-do attitude and real relationships. As such, our team reached out to our client to discuss potential solutions, striving for open and honest communication.
We were able to obtain the first half of the report in advance, giving ourselves a head-start on our translation and typesetting processes. By using Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, we were also able to flexibly accommodate any updates that the client made to the document as the project proceeded, and met the client’s timeframes.
