As part of NAATI’s We All Deserve To Be Understood campaign, Ethnolink partnered with NAATI to develop the multilingual foundations of a new consumer website connecting Australians with NAATI-certified interpreters and translators. Beyond translating website content, Ethnolink established a multilingual terminology framework and advised on website localisation, ensuring consistency, usability and cultural relevance across languages before the national campaign rollout. The multilingual website was designed to support consumers with low English proficiency by providing an in-language user journey and serving as the central call to action for the national awareness campaign.
NAATI was developing a consumer-focused multilingual website to support Australians seeking certified interpreters and translators. As the website would become the primary destination for a national awareness campaign, it was critical that users experienced clear, culturally appropriate and consistent information regardless of language. The project also required technical advice to ensure the website architecture and user experience were optimised for multilingual delivery across up to 30 languages.
Ethnolink worked with NAATI and the website development team to establish the multilingual framework before translation commenced. We provided localisation advice to support the website’s structure, navigation and user journey, ensuring it was designed with multilingual audiences in mind rather than simply translated after development.
A key component of our work was developing and validating a multilingual glossary and terminology framework. Working alongside NAATI, we established consistent translations for specialist interpreting and translation terminology, ensuring key concepts would be communicated accurately and consistently across every language. This created a single source of truth that supports not only the website but also the wider We All Deserve To Be Understood campaign and future multilingual communications.
Ethnolink then translated and quality assured approximately 15,000 words of consumer content across priority languages, ensuring information was culturally appropriate, easy to understand and delivered to the same high standard regardless of language.
By establishing the multilingual terminology framework at the outset of the project, Ethnolink created a consistent linguistic foundation for NAATI’s consumer communications. The glossary and translation framework now support consistency across the consumer website and the broader We All Deserve To Be Understood campaign, reducing translation inconsistencies and enabling future multilingual content to be developed more efficiently. The result is a scalable multilingual ecosystem that provides culturally appropriate, high-quality information to consumers while reinforcing trust in NAATI-certified interpreting and translation services.
