Nepali, also called Gurkha, Gorkhali, Gurkhali, or Khaskura, is an Indo-Aryan language that is traditionally spoken in the hilly regions of Nepal.

Nepali is the official language of Nepal and it also spoken by approximately a quarter of people in Bhutan. Nepali is also an official language in some states in India including Sikkim.

Nepali is spoken by more than 17 million people, mostly in Nepal and the neighbouring regions India.

Nepali is written in Devanagari script.

Devanagari is essentially a system of transliteration from other Indian scripts, based upon Sanskrit.

Nepali speaking population in Australia has increased significantly since 2011 Census.

The total number of Nepali speakers counted in 2016 was 62,005, compared to 27,156 that was recorded in 2011 census.
