Kirundi, also known as Rundi, is the official language of Burundi in East Africa.

Spoken by an estimated 9 million people, Kirundi is natively spoken in Burundi and neighbouring areas in Tanzania.

Kirundi is also mutually intelligible with the official language of Rwanda, Kinyarwanda.
