Mermaid Marine Australia Offshore (MMA Offshore) specialises in providing high-specification vessels and other marine and subsea services to the offshore energy sector and wider maritime industries. Ethnolink was contracted by MMA Offshore to translate over 200 internal documents from English into Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) for their launch in Taiwan. Learn more about this challenging and unique project below.
Established in 1989, MMA Offshore provides high-quality vessels, onshore facilities and specialised subsea services to deliver innovative marine solutions. They are an international business, with their main headquarters being in Perth, Western Australia. They also have regional offices throughout Asia and Southeast Asia, and local offices in New Zealand, Taiwan and the United States.
Ethnolink was engaged by MMA Offshore to create translated Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) internal documentation in preparation for their Taiwan launch. The client's brief requested for approximately 200,000 words to be translated with a one-month deadline. Due to the large volume and highly technical nature of the work, Ethnolink worked with a team of ten translators to meet the client's timeframe.
However, working with a large team of translators also meant that we needed to take extra care to ensure consistency across all translations.
Our Project Coordinator worked closely with MMA Offshore to develop a set of key glossary terms. We provided our translation team with the glossary prior to commencing the project, so that they would be able to refer back to those terms when necessary. This helped us facilitate consistency across the team, creating a consistent, high-quality product.
Additionally, the translations were directed to another NAATI Certified translator who conducted a thorough review of the documents. Our Ethnolink team then conducted rigorous quality assurance checks in accordance to our world-class Quality Translation System.
Ethnolink is pleased to have delivered the project on-time and successfully. Through a constant, open dialogue with our client, we were able to establish their needs and clarify any points of uncertainty.
MMA Offshore has since launched successfully in Taiwan. We very much look forward to working with them again.
