Ethnolink collaborated with Cancer Council Victoria to enhance awareness of supportive care services available to Arabic and Vietnamese speaking communities. Our deliverables included social media tiles, digital screens, posters, bi-lingual brochures, and animated videos produced in collaboration with Punchy Digital Media. Through community consultations, we aimed to better understand the cancer experiences, support needs, and preferred information delivery methods for these communities.
Cancer Council Victoria is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer in Victoria. It provides support, prevention programs, and research funding to help individuals affected by cancer and their families. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, Cancer Council Victoria aims to improve cancer outcomes and promote equitable access to cancer care services across diverse communities.
Cancer Council Victoria faced the challenge of improving awareness of their supportive care services for Arabic and Vietnamese speaking communities. It had previously been identified that these communities in particular often encounter barriers such as language differences, cultural nuances, and a lack of awareness about available resources. Understanding the unique cancer experiences and support needs of these groups was essential to developing effective communication and engagement strategies.
To address this challenge, Ethnolink conducted community consultations with individuals affected by cancer, carers, health professionals, and community leaders from Arabic and Vietnamese speaking communities. The insights gained from these consultations informed the creation of a comprehensive suite of multilingual resources, unique for each community. Our deliverables included social media tiles, digital screens, posters, bi-lingual brochures, and animated videos, ensuring the materials were culturally relevant and accessible. This approach aimed to increase awareness and trust in Cancer Council Victoria's support services.
The project successfully delivered culturally tailored resources for Arabic and Vietnamese-speaking communities respectively, that resonated with the target audiences. The community consultations provided valuable insights into the cancer experiences and support needs of Arabic and Vietnamese speaking communities. By understanding their preferred methods of receiving information, we were able to create effective promotional materials that increased awareness of Cancer Council Victoria's services within these communities.. The campaign strengthened trust in the Cancer Council brand and enhanced the visibility of its support services among Arabic and Vietnamese speaking populations.
